To avoid charges for excessive downloads and
uploads, please manage your P2P share folders.
See below to manage your share folder in Kazaa,
Grokster, Morpheus, Napster, Audio Galaxy,
Limewire and WinMX.
Also, keep in mind, when running ANY file
sharing program your computer is susceptible to
being compromised. We recommend turning off all
file sharing programs.
To manage your share folder in Grokster
You can shut off file sharing in Grokster by
following the instructions for Kazaa below.
To manage the files that you wish to share start
Grokster and go to "Tools/Find Media to
Share/Folder List". You can unselect them all
enmass, by clicking on the "Deselect All"
button. Uncheck any of the folders that you do
not want to share files from and check the
folders that you want to share files from.
To manage your share folder in WinMX
- In the top menu bar click on the "Shared
files" button.
- Click "Unshare Folder" and click on the folder
you wish to unshare. It will be removed.
To manage your share folder in Morpheus
We caution users of Morpheus to be extra aware
of what is being shared as it is not as easily
managed as other P2P programs. At the very least
we suggest that you click on "Edit" in the left
side top menu bar and choose "Options".
Highlight "Network" in the left pane and put a
check mark in the right side pane where it says,
"Don't connect to bandwidth intensive clients".
To manage the shared folder in Morpheus
- Click on the top "Media" button
- In the "shared items" tree on the left
highlight the item you wish to remove
- Click the "Remove" button on the lower menu
bar.
To manage your share folder in Kazaa
In the top menu bar click on "Tools" and choose
"Options"
- Click on the "traffic" tab in the Kazaa Media
Desktop Options
- Put a check mark in the box to "Disable
sharing of files with other Kazaa Media Desktop
users".
Or if you prefer to share your files and are
willing to manage your shares yourself so that
you do not exceed your bandwidth usage then just
open your Kazaa "My Shared Folder" on the
desktop and remove games, movies and other
copyright materials.
To manage your share folder in Audio Galaxy
Like Morpheus, you can check to see if it is
running by seeing if the icon is in the System
Tray. To quit it, right-click on that icon and
select Exit Satellite. Make sure it is not
running anymore by checking to see if the icon
is still there. To disable the program from
automatically running when you start your
computer, check to see if it is in the StartUp
folder under the Start Menu. Right-click on the
Start button. Double-click on the Programs
folder and then double-click on the StartUp
folder. In the StartUp folder, if you see
Audiogalaxy Satellite, go ahead and delete the
icon. Deleting this icon will not remove the
program from your computer, but will prevent it
from starting automatically.
To manage your share folder in Napster
Like Morpheus and Audiogalaxy, Napster will show
an icon on the System Tray while it is still
running. To exit Napster, right-click on its
icon in the System Tray and select Exit
To manage your share folder in Limewire
Limewire and Bearshare, you can quit them by
clicking on the X button on the top right
corner. Limewire will ask if you would like to
keep running Limewire in the System Tray, select
No, close the program and abort file transfers
and click OK.
